Nicknamed the “Paladins of the Court” by a Greenville, SC sportswriter in the 1930s and led by All-Americans Frank Selvy and Darrell Floyd in the 1950s, Furman basketball already had a storied basketball history when they made a big leap forward in the 1970s. They won the Southern Conference (SoCon) tournament and played in the NCAA tournament six times from 1971-1980, highlighted by their trip to the Sweet Sixteen in 1974. Led by local product and conference player of the year Clyde Mayes, the Paladins defeated South Carolina for their best finish in school history. Products are mocked up on a size S.
