Anyone from Youngstown in the late 80’s and early 90’s will never forget the lightning paced, high scoring, and big man free spectacle that was the WBL (World Basketball League).  The Youngstown Pride was the dominant force of the league during its existence, with a franchise record of 153-92.  The Pride won back to back titles in 1989 & 90 while also winning an impressive 42 straight at home.  Home games were played at the Beeghly Center and drew between 5,000-7,000 fans a night during their heyday.  A few years later interest and attendance unfortunately dwindled and the league folded in 1992. Now more than 25 Years after winning their first championship, we celebrate the fact that nothing could take the Pride out of Youngstown!
